Welcome, lovely and loyal listeners! I’m delighted to be bringing you the next three chapters of Summer Knight, and I wanted to explain my choice of artwork. It’s really difficult to find an illustration of Elaine, and this particular piece comes from a flashback scene in the comics. It’s kind of a strange choice for the flashback because when Harry describes it to Karrin, he says that Elaine was in the house sitting on the couch and Justin was standing beside her asking Harry to sit down. The scene shown here is much more confrontational, and I’m wondering if this was an artist interpretation, or if they changed some things in the comics. Either way, it was literally the only illustration of Elaine I could find, so please forgive that it doesn’t seem book accurate, and that she’s unnecessarily in her underwear. *sigh*
Because yeah, Elaine is back. Surprise! Harry thought she was dead, and he’s not only floored to find her standing in his apartment, but really suspicious. He doesn’t immediately realize that Elaine was under a spell when she was working with Justin, and once he discovers that, almost everything is forgiven in a flash.
Their discussion about what to do next, however, is interrupted by the antics of one Donald Morgan, and Harry is treated to a front-row seat viewing of the Merlin’s 3rd attempt to fuck up Harry’s life. Morgan attempts to provoke Harry, and almost succeeds, because he picked Susan as his main topic and we all know Harry isn’t really rational when it comes to her. Thankfully, Harry comes to his senses just in time, and manages to restrain himself from running Morgan through with a sword before calling out the baiting for exactly what it was. It was super duper satisfying, to be honest.
Thanks so much to all of you for listening, and also thank you for your patience as I am posting later than usual due to birthday festivities over the weekend! I will see you later with the next episode of Justified!
