Alrighty folks, it’s time for the chapter in the Dresden Files where something eats Harry’s magic. I’ve been looking forward to this, to be honest. Not because it’s fun, in particular, but because there’s something so jarring about the fact that this thing going after Harry seems to be able to break every rule that Harry knows in order to get at him.
It’s enough of a brutal attack that if harry hadn’t been woken up when he was, there’s a good likelihood that he could have died, or at the very least had his sanity completely destroyed. But thank goodness Bob was there, in Mister’s body, and able to wake Harry up before it’s all gone permanently to hell (pun intended).
But there’s still significant damage done, and I mention in the show that this is a trope that I always love but also dread: a hero has his main weapon, a weapon so much a part of him that it seems like they’re inextricably linked, taken away. It’s always necessary but really brutal and tough to watch. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
