I tried to find a good image of Charity Carpenter, whom we meet for the first time in these chapters, but every illustration was full of spoilers. So instead, here’s a cool one that someone did of Lea, Harry’s fairy godmother. It’s one of the few I’ve seen that manages to get across an inhuman being while still making look threatening. The eyes and teeth…that’s fun.
Harry and Michael spent the night cooling their heels in jail while waiting for bail, and while Charity bails out her husband, Harry is bailed out by Susan. She’s a little annoyed that their dates keep getting messed up by him saving people’s lives, even though she knows that he’s doing important work, and RoShawn is a little bothered that Susan tries to belittle her own feelings of being neglected. I understand what RoShawn means but I can’t say I agree, since Harry and Michael saved about 20 babies and I get why Susan feels guilty for being resentful.
Later on, Harry is called to St. Mary Of The Angels, the place where he sent Lydia. Something really powerful was there, trying to get into the church and tearing up the plants, bashing up cars, and generally causing mayhem. It turns out that Lydia has gone, and it’s unclear whether she did this of her own accord, or if she was taken by something, and Harry is getting pretty irritated that literally everything is going wrong all the time always.
I think we can all relate.
Thanks for listening!
