Heyo, listeners! It’s time for the next installment of The Dresden Files, and Harry has a confrontation with a couple different people in this trio of chapters. The one that he’s not really facing off with anywhere but in his own mind is Susan, who has apparently been haunting his dreams ever since she left town. But the ones where he’s actually throwing down are very very real, and they both could have ended with Harry getting his ass very kicked if his adversaries had decided to go a different way.
The first one is a huge ogre named Grumm, who has gotten to Ronald’s apartment before Harry and is rifling around through his stuff. Harry tries to get away with the “I’m just an innocent delivery guy” schtick, but Grumm is no fool, and he almost breaks Harry in half before getting scared off by a neighbor screaming that she’s called the cops. Next, Harry crashes Ronald’s funeral, and that’s when he spots the quartet of kids from the photo he stole from Grumm. This leads to yet another almost-Harry-breaking, when he’s lifted bodily off the ground by a muscular young woman and literally tossed into a dumpster. Don’t you just wish you could do that to people sometimes?
RoShawn is full of half-formed theories and ideas this episode, and I’m really loving how much she’s grasping for answers. I mean, that’s the whole reason we do this show, right? To delight in the people who are experiencing the mysteries of our favorite stories for the first time. I feel like The Dresden Files is delivering on that in a much more substantial way than even I expected.
Thanks so much for listening, and for joining us! I will see you again soon with the next episode of Justified!
